Although there have been thousands of rumors surrounding iPhone 8’s possible design for several months, no one stated the official design of the upcoming flagship smartphone. However, Apple has just accidentally given a straight hint of what the iPhone will be like. A developer, named Guilherme Rambo has discovered an icon of the phone leaked inside firmware for the HomePod speaker of Apple. It was hidden among Apple Pay documents, and came with the codename of “D22.”
Following to the previously several rumors 8 in the past few months, they reported that iPhone would comes with the same narrow-bezel. The former report from iDrop News showcased a virtually-similar shape, pegged bezels at 4mm without the area that was put for the sensors at the top.
Another developer, named Steve Troughton-Smith, has recently given a confirmation about the icon. Furthermore, he also discovered evidence that there was an infrared face unlock system being incorporated by Apple. It comes with the codename as “Pearl ID” but still should function in the dark.
However, that being stated, it’s not confirmed if Apple is planning to utilize the infrared for the user’s eyes only, like Samsung did with its duo Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, or if scanning the entire face will be applied to. Although Samsung has a face-unlock feature, the company doesn’t utilize infrared, as it seems to be less secure than the iris scanner. Whatever the final result will be used on iPhone 8, but one thing is sure that Apple’s implementing to be less finicky.
Apple events will be held and the big announcements are made in September. So until that release, we’ll have chance to know more about the iPhone 8.
