If you want to completely wipe out your purchase history on Amazon, you are better off deleting your Amazon account. And if you are looking for ways to do this, you have come to the right place. In this post, we will walk you through the steps to delete your Amazon account.
Before diving in, note that since your Amazon account is shared across Amazon’s websites, so after deleting it, you will not be able to access Amazon.com and international stores. Not stopping there, you will not be able to sign into any website using your Amazon account, and your Amazon Payments account, of course, will also be closed. So, it’s best to think twice before you decide to delete your Amazon account.
For now, check out steps to close it:
Step 1: First and foremost, you will need to point your web browser to the Contact Us page on Amazon’s website. Once here, sign in with the Amazon account you would like to close.
Step 2: Click the Prime or Something else button located at the top of the page.
Step 3: Scroll down to the section labeled Tell us more about your issue.
Step 4: You need to choose Account Settings from the drop-down menu beside Select an issue, and choose Close my account from the drop-down menu beside Select issue details.
Step 5: Below the section labeled How would you like to contact us?, you need to choose either Email, Phone, or Chat.
It’s recommended to choose Email, if you want to close your account in a quick manner. You will get an email as part of the account deletion process. Amazon’s staff won’t instantly close your account if you contact them over the phone or online chat.
Step 6: You are now asked to enter the reason for closing your account in the box. Then, click Send E-mail button to submit the request to the Amazon’s customer support staff. They will contact you by email with warnings about what you will lose after closing your account.
Step 7: Lastly, you just need to follow the instructions included in the email sent by Amazon to confirm you wish to close your account. Your account will then be closed. You can create a new one with a fresh purchase history if you want.
