Hey Siri voice activation is a great feature which is exclusive to the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus. Basically, the new feature allows you to activate Apple’s virtual assistant, Siri by simply saying “Hey Siri” without having to press and hold the home button until Siri asks “What can I help you with?” This could be very useful and practical especially when you are driving, eating or your device is out of reach.
However, not everyone loves “Hey Siri”. In reality, there are times when someone else activates Siri on your device and give some appropriate commands. If you happen to sit in the opposing group, you will find it helpful to turn off Hey Sir on your iPhone or iPad.
Having Hey Siri disabled does not mean that you cannot access Siri by holding down the home button on your iOS device. If you have Hey Siri enabled on your device and you want to turn it off, we can help you.
In this post, we will go through how to disable Hey Siri right on your iPhone or iPad
Step 1: The first thing you need to do is to open the Settings app from your Home screen.
Step 2: Scroll down to General and tap on it.
Step 3: Once you are in the General menu, select “Siri”.
Step 4: In the Siri menu, you will find the switch labeled “Allow ‘Hey Siri’ is now turned on, and all you need to do now is to toggle off the switch to disable the feature.
Step 5: Exit the Settings app, try saying “Hey Siri” and nothing will come up.
That’s it! Hey Siri is now deactivated. This allows you to prevent accidental triggers if someone else uses your device. As mentioned above, turning off Siri does not affect how you use Siri in general. You are still able to access Apple’s virtual assistant by pressing and holding on the Home button. If you want to turn off Siri completely, you can use the following steps:
Step 1: Go to the Settings app and tap on General.
Step 2: Tap on Siri and slide the Siri switch to the left to disable it.
Step 3: Exit the Settings.
If you change your mind, you can easily re-enable Siri and “Hey Siri” voice activation on your iPhone or iPad.
