After lots of leaks and rumors, the LG G6 has been officially announced at MWC 2017. The handset is highlighted by its 5.7-inch IPS LCD display that is taller and narrower, with an odd 18:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2,880×1,440 pixels for a pixel density of 565ppi. It is wrapped by a trendy glass body and a metal frame. The cool thing is that the LG G6 features the highest level of water and dust protection, which also means that the battery is non-removable.
As for optics, the LG G6 features a dual camera setup on its back. Both cameras are 13 megapixels in resolution with a whopping 125-degree viewing angle wider than the human field of view. They are capable of shooting in 4K for video and capturing HDR10 video. The front-facing camera is a 5MP 100-degree FOV unit.
The LG G6 is fueled by the slightly older Snapdragon 821 chipset, coupled with 4GB of RAM, and either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, depending on region. But regardless of region, customers will get a microSD card slot for more storage. The G6 ships with Android 7.0 Nougat and is the first non-Google device smartphone to come with Google Assistant on board. The handset offers support for Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0 to juice up the 3,200mAh battery.
The LG G6’s dimensions are 148.9 x 71.9 x 7.9mm and it weighs 163 grams. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, FM Radio (outside South Korea, US and Canada), GPS, LTE-A, USB Type-C, single-SIM, Dual-SIM available in certain markets. Color schemes for the G6 include Astro Black, Mystic White and Ice Platinum. There is no official word on pricing and availability.
