Meizu M5S officially unveiled with 5.2-inch display, octa-core CPU

Chinese smartphone vendor, Meizu has just launched its new smartphone M5s in China. Meizu M5s is the successor to last year’s Meizu M5. Despite a budget-priced smartphone, the M5s comes with decent specs worth your money.

Meizu M5s features a 5.2-inch IPS display with 720 resolution and especially the 2.5 curved glass that make the device look beautiful. It is powered by a 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, compared to the 1.5Ghz MT6750 processor found in the M5. The M5s packs a 3GB of RAM along with 16/32GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. The M5 packed just 2GB of RAM.

As for optics, the M5s sports a 13MP rear camera with an f/2.2 5-element lens, PDAF and a dual-tone LED flash. The front shoot features a 5MP sensor. It is backed by a 3,000mAh battery with mCharge 18W fast charging technology that is expected to charge the smartphone from 0 to 19 percent in just 10 minutes.

Featuring a metal body, the M5s has a fingerprint sensor, which is built into the home button. It also offers support for 4G LTE and VoLTE. Other connectivity options include WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n  Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS / GLONASS. The M5s ships with Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Flyme OS 6.0.

In terms of pricing, the Meizu M5s is priced at CNY 799 ($115) for the 16GB variant and CNY 999 ($145) for the 32GB variant. The smartphone will go on sale from Februrary 20 in China. It will be available in four color variants, including Moonlight Silver, Rose Gold, Star Gray, and Champagne Gold.
