Today, Micromax- the largest Android smartphone vendor in India launched its first dual-camera setup smartphone. Being named under the Dual 5, this might be one of the most luxurious smartphones that the company has ever introduced. On April 10th, the device will go on sale online via Micromax Store and Flipkart with a price at Rs.24,999. Also, it will be available through company’s large chain of offline retail partners all over the country.
Along with a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 Full HD resolution, the Dual 5 impresses us with one hundred percent color gamut coverage and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 octa-core SoC clocked at 1.8 GHz, 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 128GB of internal memory which can be expandable via a Hybrid Dual SIM slot.
In terms of camera, this expensive smartphone features two 13MP Sony rear camera sensors, which respectively are a monochrome unit, and an RGB unite. Being paired with the primary camera is an f/1.8 aperture lens and dual-tone LED flash, and support 4K video recording. In addition, The Dual 5 is equipped with a 13MP snapper with 1.12 micron sized pixels, an f/2.0 aperture lens, and a dedicated LED flash on the front.
Other connectivity features includes Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, GPS with A-GPS, USB Type-C port, 4G VoLTE and Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy. Thanks to the support of an Infrared sensor, the Dual 5 can be used as a remote control to operate your home appliances. It also has a fingerprint scanner at the rear below the main camera. Keeping the light on is a 3200mAh capacity battery inside with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support.
However, it is pitiful that the phone still runs on the outdated Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out of the box instead of an updated Android 7.0 Nougat. In the future, the company intends to roll out a smaller smartphone with a dual-camera setup with the name of Dual 4.
