Tips to enable Slide to shut down on Windows 10 PC

The feature is still available on Windows 10, but it’s typically only enabled on tablets and Windows 10 Mobile devices when you press and hold the power button.

Step 1: First and foremost, you will need to right-click on an empty space on the desktop, and then choose New > Shortcut.

Step 2: You need to enter the following path, and then hit Next.

%windir%\System32\SlideToShutDown.exe

Step 3: You are now supposed to name the shortcut.

Step 4: Click Finish to complete the task.

Step 5: Right-click the shortcut you just created, and choose Properties.

Step 6: Choose the Shortcut tab, hit the Change Icon… button.

Step 7: Hit OK to confirm that the path you entered earlier doesn’t contain icons.

Step 8: You now need to choose an icon that best describe the shutdown button.

Step 9: Click OK > Apply.

Step 10: Lastly, click OK again to complete the task.

Now, you should have your shortcut for powering off your computer. You just need to double-lick on it to launch Slide to shut down your PC, and then use touch or click and drag the mouse to the bottom of the screen to shut down your computer.
