Steps to set custom icon for a removable drive on Windows 10
Before getting started, you will need the icon file (.ico) you wish to use. You can look for many icons on the web.
After downloading the .ico file, you will have to copy the icon and create autorun.file on your removable drive with these steps:
Step 1: First off, connect the removable drive you wish to set a custom icon.
Step 2: You need to open the removable drive using File Explorer.
Step 3: At the root of the drive, right, and then choose New > Text Document.
Step 4: You are now required to name the file autorun.inf and hit Enter.
Step 5: Click Yes to confirm.
Step 6: Next, double click the autorun.inf to open the file, and copy and paste the following:
On Icon, you will have to change icon-name.ico with the name of your icon.
On Label, you change drive-label with the drive label you want.
Step 7: Once you are done, click File > Save.
Step 8: Close the text editor.
Step 9: You are asked to choose the autorun.inf and the icon right files.
Step 10: Right-click the selection and choose Properties.
Step 11: Under the Attributes section, check the box for Hidden to make these files invisible inside the drive.
Step 12: Click Apply > OK.
Once you have completed the above steps, simply disconnect and reconnect the removable drive. You should see the drive with the new icon and label on File Explorer.
