What we know so far about iPhone 7

10

We are only a couple of weeks from the iPhone 7 unveiling. The next generation has been the subject of lots of rumors for several months. According to Ming-Chi-Kuo, the new iPhone will not come with significant changes as highly expected. However, like it or not, Apple’s next gen iPhone serves as the most anticipated phones in the market.

In this post, we will walk you through everything we know so far about the next iPhone.

1. New camera

1

The next iPhone has been long-rumored to come with the biggest camera change ever, by introducing a dual-camera system on the back side of the phone. Besides, the new iPhone is believed to be equipped with a camera that protrudes less and there will no antenna bands across the back of the device.

2. Remove the physical home button

2

iPhone 7 might be the first iPhone that marks the removal of the physical home button. Instead, users can unlock their phones by using a fingerprint sensor built right into the screen. Besides, sources say that the new iPhone will come with a pressure-sensitive home button that shares the same functionality with the iPhone 6s’s 3D Touch.

3. The headphone jack’s removal

3

We have heard a number of stories of the removal of the standard 3.5mm headphone jack on the next iPhone and the implementation of a thinner Lightning port. According to sources, the headphone jack’s removal is one of Apple’s strategic plans to make the iPhone 7 up to 1mm thinner and also make it water resistant.

4. Water Resistance

4

Water Resistance is something that all iPhone or iPad fans have been waiting for. In reality, the current iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus survived an impressive thirty minutes submerged under water even though they are not marketed as water-resistant smartphones. Sources claim that the new iPhone 7 will be water-resistant. Last week, Apple was granted a patent that tips Apple’s possible plans for a waterproof smartphone, which adds more credibility to on-going rumors.

5. Faster processor

7

There have been a lot of rumors floating that the new iPhone 7 will not come with major design changes. Instead, Apple will focus on hardware improvements. Accordingly, the iPhone 7 is expected to feature next-generation A10 processor that could be 50 per cent faster than the current A9X that powers the iPhone 6s.

6. Iris scanner

Back in 2013, Apple introduced fingerprint sensor that was specifically designed for the iPhone 5s. Following Apple’s introduction in 2013, many smartphone brands have included fingerprint scanning in their high-end smartphones. Security techs among smartphone makers have been so intense for years. This year, Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Note 7 with iris scanning, so it seems plausible that Apple adds an iris scanning to its new iPhone.
